Inspiration behind collection 

The Tye Dye collection is a mix of fusion art with traditional indian dying technique. Inspired by the modern indian women, changing lifestyles of women in the society yet keeping her roots strong and firm. Colours are inspired from colourful vibes of the festive season adding brightness and happiness to the occasion. The collection is simple and elegant, keeping rooted to the colourful tye-dyes and letting the femininity flow with the fabrics.

Introduction of designer

In a world where being fashionable is considered very important, Neha Chavan is a guide to reflect ones personality through fashion and style.  Graduating from NIFT Mumbai and Post Graduating from London College of Fashion, Neha Chavan developed her base from there 5 years alongside the best renowned fashion designers. Thereafter, this Mumbai-based fashion designer launched her own label – “NehaChavan”. One of the Youngest self launched designers in the country, her love for fashion makes her live for it with unrestricted progress. Neha Chavan’s aim to make these women stand out from the rest draws her closer to her roots in Indian tradition and craftsmanship.  A love of contemporary art and textures informs her tactile, lyrical and relevant collections. She not only adorns her talent into women’s clothing but also brings out the very essence a woman embodies. Her endeavour to clothe natural beauty with highest quality fabric accentuates the building of character.Integral to the label is the art of contrasts: balancing the androgynous with the feminine; the structured with the effortless; and the classical with the modern.

Kareena Kapoor - For her dressing up less is always more. She is simple in her clothes and loves styling her accessories well. NC clothing is also more about the way you style it.

Designer inspired by me 

I am very fond of Manish Malhotra's Outfits and they are the root of my inspiration. He is a guru who i have looked up to since childhood. I have grown up looking at his work on ramp and films and he has been one of the most important reason for me to be in this industry.

The Mela collection by karleo

THE MELA COLLECTION BY KARLEO

About the collection

Drawing from the colours and eclectic culture of an Indian mela, the KARLEO winter/festive collection brings together bright colours, contrasting textures, and motifs inspired by animals. The cording detailing, in neutral tones of grey and black, is highlighted with accents of bright colours, akin to the effervescence of a mela. Pops of pink, green, orange, red and blue are used in the vibrant patterns—featuring lions, butterflies and owls, in abstract form, subtly and seamlessly woven into the thread work. This animal art is seen in the finer elements as well—in the beaded buttons and the mini pom-poms that hang off tasselled trims.

About the designers - Leon Vaz & Karan Berry

After graduating from Mumbai’s St Xavier’s College, Leon Vaz decided to study fashion design at the Pearl Academy Of Fashion in New Delhi. His first professional experiences in fashion were his internships with young designers like Varun Sardana and Nitin Bal Chauhan in Delhi. He eventually returned to Mumbai to work at one of India’s biggest fashion export houses, where he began to develop his areas of expertise and learnt the applications of design at a whole new level. Working with major international labels like Valentino and Armani taught him about all that goes into building a brand and about the serious business of fashion as it is in an evolved fashion market. This helped Leon when he established his own export company. After working with the biggest names in couture from Paris, New York, London and Milan, he realised that with India as such a massive source of design inspiration and skilled craftsmanship, people in India deserved the same standards of quality as consumers of couture in the west do. That and Leon’s partnership with Karan Berry—a product of the seamless synchrony between their work and design principles—led to their decision to co-create a fashion label. And that is how Karleo came about. Leon’s vision for a career in fashion was to create clothes for special occasions. Clothes to him are the language of a wearer and a glimpse of their personality. While communicating this idea to the tailors and embroiderers is important, he considers it equally important for the client to understand what goes into creating a garment. He feels that the work done by tailors and craftsmen gets lost somewhere, which shouldn’t be the case, because of how much importance is associated with a piece of couture. Leon’s understanding of how important a wedding gown is for a bride, a red-carpet outfit is to a celebrity, or any couture garment is to the person wearing it, makes him a better designer. And that is a big part of the service that Karleo provides its customers. Leon sees Karleo as one day being a one-stop shop for planning one’s entire wedding wardrobe, or outfits for key moments in one’s life, or a place where anyone can simply go because they want to make something special and work with good people in order to do so.

Karan Berry was more intrigued by design in general before the fashion bug caught him. After being involved in several fashion-related projects, he decided to pursue a post-graduate diploma in fashion. After a stint in menswear at an export company, Karan even tried his hand at visual merchandising and worked with Spykar Jeans for four years. He also worked independently on the side, creating bridal trousseaus for women, all along developing a fondness towards footwear design. This took him to the London College of Fashion to pursue an Advanced Diploma In Cordwainers Footwear Design. A year later, Karan was back in Mumbai, working as a consultant, for Spykar Jeans, as well as Tata, who were planning on starting a line of footwear. It was then that he began to work towards co-creating a brand of footwear and accessories, called AKA Bespoke. Over the last few years, Karan has pursued another post-graduate course in Aesthetics, and he has associated with educational institutes like Symbiosis, SNDT, NIFT, Wigan And Leigh College Of Fashion, among others, in various capacities. After having worked in several areas of design, when the opportunity to create a fashion label with Leon Vaz arose, their seamless working relationship made him grab it. And that is how Karleo came about. Karan’s idea of a career has always been to appreciate design at all levels, which led him to working in various areas of design; even as a consultant with a few brands. In India, people were not open to the idea of a consultant working with more than one brand or company. However, that is slowly changing, and Karan is closer to realising his dream of being able to think, create, comment on and look at design from all perspectives. Even when it comes to working on his own brands, Karan likes to challenge himself with diverse work. From making bespoke footwear at the AKA workshop, going straight into couture at Karleo was a natural progression of things, especially given the synchrony between his work and Leon’s. Karan’s vision for the brand includes offering clients the ultimate in service, which he believes can come only from spending quality time with customers. Along with Leon, Karan plans to take forward Karleo, with their long-lasting values of quality over quality, in product as well as service.

Based in Mumbai, designer Priyankka Sutaria graduated from NIFT, Mumbai . With her passion and zeal to have a successful career in fashion, she grew with experience to produce the quality collections at regular intervals. The label was established in 2012. Blessed with the clients from India, the label is well acknowledged by clients from Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai. Priyankka 's collection magnifies feminity working with fine materials, delicate embroideries whilst maintaing high standards of sophistication. The collection have been a beautiful blend of the Indian style with a mix of the modern touch.

The Best Fashion Show Ever

On 3rd December, Designer Mirela Nurce and Gentian Minga, the Editor of Living Magazine teamed up to showcase what was the best Fashion Show in humanity! The models were professional models that have walked the ramp. But guess who were the designers? Students. Not ordinary students, but students who were from the Institute of Deaf Students in Albania. The Children created drawings, which were then turned into clothes and the models were made to walk the ramp on these designs.

Mirela Nurce helped the students by turning their drawings into clothes, coats, purses and even Umbrellas.

Fashion isnt always about the style and the glamour, it is sometimes also about creating a difference and giving back to the world. This day did make a difference to those wonderful kids who did this on the International day of persons with disabilities, which was supported by UN Development Programme.

Breath Easy with these Fashionable Masks

Delhi has been rated as the city with the highest air pollution index in the world. With a rating of air quality is been the worst due to pollution caused by vehicular emmissions and emmissions by industries and crop burning. This poor quality of air is not only in Delhi bt also in Raipur, Kanpur and other places in UP,Bihar and MP. The air quality index worsens in Winter leading to many respiratory diseases.

The only way to stay clear from this is to wear masks, but the masks available in theMARKET are boring white or blue and doesn’t help much.

But, worry not, a different kind of mask is now out in theMARKET by a company called VogMask designed by Manish Arora.

They will have an advanced filter mechanism which is said to remove particulate matter as tiny as 0.3 microns, which is one-eighth the size of PM 2.5, which Delhi’s air is filled with.

These masks may help a lot of people suffering from respiratory problems, but they’re only a temporary solution to Delhi’s smog and pollution.

Be the Change – Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma, the bubbly punjabi girl who started her career with the mellow “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” to “Dil Dhadakne Do” released this year, has completed 7 years in the Industry. After being in the Industry for so many years, she shared her experience with Anupama Chopra in a recent video.

Anushka has now become an established actress in the industry, but is still not being treated at par with the Male actors. The Industry, she says, is biased towards the Male Actors, and female actors are just to compliment their male counterparts. The Industry reports suggest that less than 10 % of the films only are made by Women in such a big Industry, and surviving in the Industry is difficult where there is always one person ready to crush the other.

Recently Anushka’s movie NH10 was released that was produced by Anushka herself, creating a one of its kind instance and her role in that movie was off traditional views of the audience. This created a spur of a different kind. An industry where the male is the protagonist 95% of the time saw a movie where the female did what she wasn’t really expected to.

The Industry which is hell bent on achieving numbers, is oriented towards the 100-300 Crore club, Says Anushka, which then puts the creativity down. In such an Industry, being herself and staying to the ground is very important, which she does with so much ease. And inspite of spending 7 years in the industry, she calls herself mediocre.

Anushka recalls, that in the industry, the mindset is so stagnant, suggesting something to the director is like hurting his ego, and being called a bitch at the back or having too much method.

Anushka has been very open about herself, and in fact very much open about her relationship with Virat, which she respects so much. But the way she has been talked about has put her on backfoot. She wishes that the Industry had a really mellow approach and males would be open giving the women a lead like George Clooney did in Gravity! That’s something the industry really needs.

To a woman who has been so honest, open, hard working and talented, the industry is a difficult place to survive in, and wants to see a change. Anushka Sharma, you are an inspiration to all the women out there who succumb their voice in the need of survival. Our deepest respects for you, Lady!
