Colors of the year 2016 : Rose Quartz and Serenity
Pantone declared colors for the year 2016. These colors are rose quartz and serenity.
The 2 colors define calmness and softness. Rose quartz is a shade of pink on the lighter note, but no, its not baby pink! This shade is a lighter-shinier version of baby pink. Serenity is a shade of blue, a calm serene shade, so the name serenity.
This is the first time in 15 years that Pantone has declared more than 1 color as its color of the year. These selections also denote gender equality on the basis of a pre-conceived notion of “pink for girls and blue for boys”
When asked why these colors were selected for 2016, people from Pantone said “mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses” , which is true seeing how soothing they are.
